Solidarity Support Standing Strong For Iran – 16 May 2026

Today, 16 May, Iranian New Zealanders and supporters of freedom gathered in Wellington and Auckland as part of the National Lion and Sun Call to raise their voices against executions, internet shutdowns, and the escalating repression in Iran.
While much of the world’s attention remains focused on oil prices and regional geopolitics, millions of people inside Iran continue to suffer under censorship, fear, arbitrary arrests, and state violence.

We gathered to remind New Zealand and the international community that behind every headline are real people fighting for their freedom. Until the voices of the Iranian people can be heard freely, we will continue to stand with them and be their voice.
