DESCRIPTION:Auckland Freedom March for Iran was one of the first major public demonstrations organised by the Iranian community in New Zealand in response to the ongoing crisis in Iran. \nThe march began at Commercial Bay and continued through central Auckland to Myers Park\, bringing together approximately 4\,700 people\, including Iranians\, New Zealanders\, and supporters of freedom\, democracy\, and human rights. \nAs one of our earliest and largest public actions\, this march marked an important moment for the Iranian community in Auckland. It created a powerful visible presence in the heart of the city\, amplified the voices of people inside Iran\, and called for international attention to state violence\, executions\, censorship\, internet shutdowns\, and the wider human rights crisis under the Islamic Republic. \nTogether\, we marched to honour the courage of the Iranian people\, remember those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom\, and stand in solidarity with everyone fighting for a free and democratic Iran.

DESCRIPTION:On 11 March 2026\, members of the Iranian community and supporters of freedom gathered at the Mt Eden War Memorial in Auckland to stand in solidarity with the people of Iran. \nThis rally was part of our ongoing effort to keep the voices of Iranians visible in New Zealand and to draw attention to the continuing human rights crisis under the Islamic Republic. Participants came together to condemn state violence\, executions\, repression\, censorship\, and the silencing of peaceful dissent. \nThe choice of the Mt Eden War Memorial created a meaningful setting for reflection\, remembrance\, and collective action. Together\, we honoured the courage of those who continue to resist oppression in Iran and reaffirmed our commitment to supporting a free\, democratic\, and secular Iran. \nThrough public gatherings like this\, the Iranian Community of New Zealand continues to raise awareness\, build solidarity\, and remind the wider public that the struggle of the Iranian people must not be forgotten.
